A Letter to My Mom as a New Mom
Dear Mom,
Today, my first Mother's Day, I'm feeling overwhelmed by a wave of emotions that only now, as a new mother myself, I can truly begin to comprehend. It’s like finally understanding the lyrics to a song I’ve been hearing all my life but never truly listened to until now.
Every night I spend holding my baby close, soothing his tears, or watching him sleep peacefully, I’m struck by a deeper appreciation for you. I realize the nights you spent awake, the invisible strength behind your tired eyes, and the gentle magic you wove around me each day. Motherhood is harder than anyone admits, yet you made it look effortless—beautifully masking exhaustion with smiles, hugs, and endless patience.
You often forgot yourself in the midst of caring for me and my siblings, always putting our needs first. Now, as I step into your shoes, I wish you had known there were effortless ways to take care of yourself too, to feel refreshed and confident again. Simple moments of self-care—like embracing beauty routines that make you feel radiant and badass—can transform tired days into empowered ones. Sometimes I feel guilty that you let yourself go for us.
In my eyes, you’ve always been the most beautiful woman in the world, yet I see that you struggle to believe it yourself. It breaks my heart to constantly remind you of your worth, knowing deep down you shouldn't need these reminders. I wish society had embraced you as you are, celebrating your strength instead of setting unrealistic expectations. You deserved your beauty to be supported every stages of your life, from postpartum struggles to busy days juggling full-time work with raising six children. It must have been incredibly tough being a mom in the '90s. I'm truly sorry that our brand wasn't there for you back then, Mom. I'm sorry the world made you believe you needed to fit into a size 0 to be pretty, or that losing your hair postpartum diminished your femininity. Our goal with Beauty For Real now is exactly this: to remind mothers like you of their intrinsic beauty and worth, to show them they're stunning in every phase of life, and to simplify beauty routines so that feeling beautiful can be easy and accessible, even on the busiest of days.
When I feel overwhelmed by uncertainty, I remember how your calm voice guided me through the storms. When doubt creeps in, I think of the way you believed in me fiercely, giving me courage to face my own motherhood journey with confidence. I've never admired you more than now, as I glimpse the quiet sacrifices you made every single day, simply because you loved me unconditionally.
Watching you hold my baby is like seeing pure love transcend generations—your warmth radiating from grandmother to grandchild, reminding me of every embrace you gave me. You didn't just raise me; you taught me what it means to truly love without conditions, without boundaries. My baby will grow up feeling safe and loved, just as I did, because of the lessons your life has taught me.
Mom, thank you for showing me the meaning of love in its purest form. Thank you for teaching me resilience, empathy, and strength through your own graceful example. Thank you for holding my hand through every challenge and celebrating every tiny victory as if it were monumental.
On this Mother's Day, I want you to know how profoundly grateful I am—not only because you raised me, but because you continue to inspire and guide me through every moment of motherhood.
I love you more deeply than words could ever fully capture.
Forever yours,
Your Daughter
